It was a Wednesday afternoon. I had just spent another lunchtime at the gym and was back at my desk. I was eating my usual – a ham, Camembert and cranberry sauce baguette with a can of Diet Coke (it’s healthier because it’s Diet, right?)
My buddy Steve invited me to do a triathlon that his company was entering. A 750m swim followed by a 20k cycle and 5km run.
My first thoughts were – “I can do that! How hard could it be?”
The next day at lunchtime I went to the gym and jumped on the treadmill.
After 2 minutes on the treadmill and less than half a kilometre, my chest was so sore. I thought there had to be something wrong!
Turns out there was – I was much less fit than I realised! I had been spending three times a week in the gym but getting nowhere. I was doing all the wrong things, and on top of it my eating habits were terrible!
Something had to change…
Once I realised I was nowhere near ready to complete a triathlon, I started doing some research.
There were people just like me who also had busy careers and young families but were in peak physical fitness.
So what is the secret?
I took the decision to start educating myself. I spent so much time online researching fitness and diet. I started to piece together information on fitness techniques.
I started to find out things like going to the gym for a Dad & Man 40+ doesn’t work for us.
Through the research around nutrition, I realised for Dads & Men 40+ Diets do not work.
I was able to make better and more informed decisions around my diet. Understanding how the metabolism works, the timing of eating food, and more.
I put together all this knowledge and developed my own unique 90/10 Transformation System
I went from being unfit and overweight to dropping 28kg and taking part in an Ironman.
It turns out the way to dropping fat and getting fit as a busy dad was quite simple with the right system
Went to the gym 3 times a week, ate what I liked and drank heavily, still unfit and overweight
Was entered into my first Triathlon, started to educate myself on nutrition and fitness, understood the negative effects of food, the positive effects of HIIT training, swimming, cycling and running
